Meet Jeanette

I’m Jeanette Merrick, an accomplished Violist dedicated to inspiring a passion for music in my students. As the Principal Violist of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, I had the honor of performing for Queen Elizabeth II. I've also played in some prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. My musical journey led me to study with some of the best, earning an Artist Diploma from The Glenn Gould School under Steven Dann, and a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the University of Alberta. I also refined my skills with Thomas Riebl in Austria and participated in elite summer programs such as Domaine Forget and the Banff Summer Masterclasses.

With extensive orchestral and chamber music experience, including as a founding member of the Chamber Orchestra of Edmonton and Principal Violist of the Alberta Baroque Ensemble, my career has been rich and diverse. I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience, helping you discover the joy and fulfillment that music can bring.

🎵🎶 Testimonials 🎶🎵

"Jeanette is a very good teacher and I've learned so much from her."

Morgan, 14

"Jeanette is an amazing and dedicated teacher, who really wants you to learn.  She takes the time to make sure her students understand the pieces and the exercises so they are able to develop their skill.  She has a genuine care for her students, and wants them create lasting and meaningful relationships with music."

Saira, 19

"My daughter has been taking music lessons with Jeanette for quite a few years, first for violin and piano and now just piano. I have been very impressed with Jeanette's teaching as my daughter continues to grow in skill. Being 15 now I was worried she would want to stop playing, but she looks forward to her lesson each week.

Jeanette has been so flexible throughout the pandemic and even now that we are returning to 'normal'. Being able to keep up lessons when all other extracurricular activity was cancelled meant a lot. We have had to reschedule or go online last minute due to possible symptoms multiple times and Jeanette has been very accommodating.

If you are looking for a skilled, patient and kind teacher for lessons I highly recommend Jeanette."
